Will the Hoosiers Break Through?

Hopefully this season is the one where the hoosiers finally knock down the wall and get back to a bowl game. Last year the hoosiers made a lot of improvements but just couldn't finish in the 4th quarter of games. What has Lynch done about that problem? He made it a point of emphasis this off season and made the word "FINISH" be placed on the back of all the players work out shirts. Each drill this off season was made extremely competitive. The hoosiers were split into teams during winter workouts and points were awarded for winning each drills, attending classes among others, and losers were punished. This in hopes will make the players improve their ability to finish games down the stretch.

Since the bowl season, Coach Lynch has been able to upgrade the overall talent in recruiting and through red shirting he has been able to develop more of the younger players before they are thrown onto the field. Last year they were competitive in so many more games than the previous year, but if they were able to finish we could have been 8-4 instead of 4-8 and been extremely optimistic for the next season. With the culmination of an easy non-conference schedule, more depth, and more competitiveness this off season, the hoosiers have a good shot at breaking through and getting over the hump to get back to a bowl game.

Spring practice is almost here and you can look forward to a very competitive camp. Many defensive positions will be up for grabs and hopefully the competition will bring about the best in the players.
