Will Duwyce Wilson crack the starting lineup?

Duwyce Wilson was our highest rated recruit in the 2009 class. The wide receiver had other scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Iowa, and Wisconsin. He is a big and tall receiver with good speed and tremendous hands. Many think he is just as explosive as Tandon Doss. Duwyce also runs a 4.44 40 yard dash, posted a 34 inch vertical and has an extremely high ceiling.

So why didn't he get to play as a freshman? One of the biggest reasons was the talent and depth we already had at the wide receiver position. Between Tandon Doss, Demarlo Belcher, Terrence Turner and 3-4 other receivers it was difficult to catapult into the starting lineup. He got the benefit of red shirting last year which will pay some big dividends for IU in the future. We do however return all of our receivers from last year, so how will this year be any different? Duwyce is going to have many opportunities during the spring to show what he can do. Terrance Turner will be out during the spring as he is recovering from neck surgery. Mitchell Evans also got surgery and has been switched to the safety position. Matt Ernest also will be making a position switch to corner back. This spring will be very important for Duwyce if he wants to be a regular contributor on the field next fall. I will be keeping a close eye on how he performs during spring practice and keep everyone updated.

  1. I'm pretty sure it's not Terrance Turner, the WR, that's having shoulder surgery, it's Terrance Thomas, the DE, having it.

  5. No worries, Terrance Turner's injury kind of flew under the radar. I am also excited to see Finch and Duwyce get a lot of reps this spring
