4 Keys for the game

This week's match up against the Wolverines will provide a great measuring stick to see where we are as a football team. On the bright side we are 3-0 and have made a ton of strides each and every week. On the down side, we really haven't played a great team let alone a top 25 team with 110,000 people in the seats. Here are my 4 keys for the game.

1. Fast Start- if we get off to a slow start and allow the "big house" to get rowdy we will be in for a long day. If we can hang with Michigan for the first half and take the crowd out of the game we will have a good shot to pull off the upset. This will also give our players some confidence throughout the game. They key will be to keep the game close late in the game and then from there anything can happen.

2. Stopping the run- Michigan's rushing attack is currently 3rd in the country with 271 yards per game. The biggest surprise has been the emergence of Carlos Brown. The senior is coming off a 13-carry, 187-yard, two-touchdown effort against Eastern Michigan that earned him Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors and was highlighted by a 90-yard touchdown run. The Hoosier's d-line has been successful against the run allowing only 76 yards per game. This will be a big test for them against the run. I'm eager to see how well our D-line will match up and be able to stop the run.

3. Applying constant pressure- Tate Forcier has looked very good in the first 3 games as a wolverine but freshman QB's always have the tendency to get rattled when under pressure. A big key will be for Middleton and Kirlew to get after him as much as possible and make him uncomfortable in the pocket. By doing so Tate may make some bad decisions which could lead to turnovers, or make him just make some bad throws.

4. Running the ball- we have done a much better job establishing the run the last 2 weeks. Michigan has given up 333 yards on the ground the last 2 games. If we can establish the run it will open up the passing game and allow us to be balanced on offense like we have the last 2 weeks.
